Walnut Creek Community Activities
Classes for Children
Children's classes bring together the community's youngest members to learn about and practice their spiritual qualities, such as kindness, generosity, patience and compassion. By incorporating music, stories, art, games, drama, and community service, the parents, teens, and young adults who teach these classes create an environment where children feel they belong to the community and share in its purpose.
Devotional Life
Devotional gatherings bring friends, families and neighbors together in a spirit of worship, feeding the soul through prayer, song and contemplation. There are no rituals; no one individual has any special role. Participants simply share prayers and passages in an informal yet respectful atmosphere.
Learning Groups
There are many different pathways for learning about spirituality. Throughout Walnut Creek, Bahá’ís host book clubs, study sacred texts or discuss contemporary issues. Topics may include: the spiritual nature of life, the basic features and history of the Bahá’í Faith, how to build unified communities and engage in service, and how to teach children and mentor youth.
Groups for Pre-Teens and Teens
Groups for pre-teens and teens tap into young people's acute sense of justice, growing awareness and increased interest in profound questions. Through storytelling, discussion, recreation, arts, and service projects, participants form healthy and productive patterns of behavior, build discernment and decision-making skills, and learn to address the needs of their communities.
